How it works

Why it is free, and why it is fast.

  • The engine runs in your browser

    Stockfish is compiled to WebAssembly and loaded once — 7 MB the first time, cached after that. There is no analysis queue, because there is no shared machine to queue for.

  • Your games come straight from the source

    Chess Galaxy reads the public APIs of Chess.com and Lichess with the account name you give it. Nothing is uploaded, and no password is asked for.

  • Every number carries its denominator

    A verdict without an evaluation behind it is an opinion. Where a figure is an estimate rather than a measurement, the interface says so instead of rounding the doubt away.
